Give books a second life!

Bring back books you bought at The Bookworm in exchange for 25% of their original price in store credit. This way you will keep books circulating, and you'll help us grow our inventory of affordable radical titles. And the best part is that these books will bring joy and knowledge to new readers!

We accept:

  • Books that you bought at our bookshop that are marked "eligible for buyback" (see picture below)
  • Books that are clean and undamaged ("as new" condition)
  • Other books may also be accepted. Please contact us if you think you have another book that you want to give a second life

 

 

How does it work?

  • Check if the book(s) you want to give a second life are clean and undamaged 
  • Send us an email or give us a phone call (you can find our contact information here) to coordinate a date and time
  • These are usually days we can receive people:
    Monday from 09.00 - 17.00, Wednesday from 09.00 - 12.00 and 14.00 - 17.00, and Friday 09.00 - 14.00 and 15.00 - 17.00
  • Bring your clean and undamaged book(s) to our location 
  • We will check if the books are eligible
  • For an eligible book you will receive a digital giftcard / store credit of 25% of the price you bought the book for at our shop

We can imagine that not everyone has the means to travel to our location. If for whatever reason it is not possible for you to come to us, please do feel free to contact us, we can always figure something out together.

Evaluating your book might take a bit of time. I am very new to this practice, and I appreciate your patience. You also have the option to donate your books to for instance to a minibieb, or De Leeszaal Rotterdam West.

Can I join by mail?

You are most welcome to send your books by mail to us, but please keep in mind the following:

  • You are responsible for the shipping costs
  • You are responsible for any books lost or damaged during transport (so make sure to ship the books in a sturdy and weatherproof box)
  • Make sure that you add a note with an email address, so that we know where to send the digital gift card to
  • Double check your books before sending them. Any books sent to us that are not in a very good condition, will be donated with no credit issued

What is a "as new" condition?

  • A clean and undamaged cover; no stains, marks, or folds, damaged corners
  • The pages are clean and undamaged: no dogears, annotations, stains, missing pages
  • No broken spine
